Out of the three kinds of knowledge, what is Sattvika knowledge?
The knowledge by which an aspirant sees one imperishable, indivisible entity (existence) in all beings, that knowledge is called Sattvika (mode of purity). (Gita 18:20)
What is Rajasika (mode of activity or passion) knowledge, O Lord?
The knowledge by which one sees the manifold existence of various kinds in all beings as separate, that knowledge is Rajasika. (Gita 18:21)
What is Taamasika (mode of ignorance) knowledge?
The knowledge which clings to that one individual (body) that was created as if it were the whole, the knowledge that is irrational, without any real object and mundane, that knowledge is declared as Taamasika. (Gita 18:22)
Out of the three kinds of actions, which one is Sattivika?
The action which is one’s ordained by the scriptures, performed without the sense of doership, without passion or prejudice by one not desirous of the fruit, is said to be Sattvika (Gita 18:23)
Which is Rajasik action ?
The action which is performed by one desirous of enjoyments, or by a man who is full of egotism, and the action is performed with much strain and effort, is Rajasik (Gita 18:24)
What is Tamasika action?
The action which is undertaken from delusion, without considering the outcome (result), losses, violence and one’s own capacity, is declared to be Tamasika (Gita 18:25)
