God Realization is Not through Actions – 3
God is ours and I am God’s – this is the truth. Therefore while doing worship and meditating on God, remember this point specially, that God is there right now, right here, He is in me and He is mine. Now where is there any place for sense of hopelessness? Just like a child believes that mother is mine. He exerts his rights over his mother. In fact he establishes his full privileges over her.
When mother looks here and there then he holds on to her and says that you look towards me only, that is it. Then mother is compelled to look towards him. Similarly if we say to God, that we are yours, you are mine, therefore you look towards me only. Saints have said – “na mein dekhu aur ko, na tohi dekhan deoo.” I will not see anyone else and I will not let you look in another direction. Being so, God comes under your spell. Our looking elsewhere is the main obstacle.
“Ek baani karunaanidhaan ki; so priye jaaki gati na aan ki. (Manas 3/10/4)
Therefore however anyone may be, they must not feel a sense of hopelessness when it comes to God. If you do not have faith, then do name recitation, chant His Name, do everything; because these are things that have to be done!
However, it is not that someone can have a hold on God through name recitation-meditation etc. it is only by giving our self to God that we can captivate God. We have given ourselves to the world, therefore we are suffering. If we give ourselves to God, then we will be greatly benefited.
This is entirely in accordance to the scriptures, that by doing things we cannot have a hold on God. However much abilities we may have acquired, we cannot establish our rights on God. Because we can only establish our rights on one who is weaker than us. With hundred rupees we can only have a hold on those things that are of a lesser value than the hundred rupees. Similarly, if we get God through abilities then we will only get the God that is weaker than those abilities.
Therefore notions such as – he is detached one, he is a renunciate, he is great, he will attain God not us, are entirely false –.
If you have intense longing for God, and you cannot stay without him, than many great scholars and detached ones will remain lamenting, because you will realize God first. If you cannot live without God, then God also cannot live without you. Therefore, no one should ever feel a sense of disappointment or hopelessness in the least bit when it comes to God and one must not have expectation and hope from this world, as the world cannot be attained only by wishing and hoping. Even if you get it, it will not last. And even if it lasts, then your body will not last. The world is of the nature of “non-existence” (it neither exists now, nor did is exist in the past, nor will it ever exist in the future), therefore it will ever remain as non-existent. God is of the nature of “existent” (pervades now and in the future), therefore God will remain ever existent. He will never be non-existent. This is an established Truth.
