To day is Maun Ekadashi (or Maun Agyarash). It is a truly auspicious day for Jains. Whatever religious actions you do on this day, you benefit 150 times as much! This preaching was given to Lord Krishna by Neminath Bhagwan himself.
A total of 150 kalyanaks (milestones: conception, birth, diksha, kevalgnan, or nirvana) of Tirthankars from 10 different shetras (worlds) and 3 different time-cycles (past, present, and future chauvisis) have occurred on this very day. There is a nice story about Suvrat Sheth who followed Maun Ekadashi for 11 years and eventually attained kevalgnan 2 lives later.
For more information, you can read the entire story in the Dev Vandan book at the Derasar (in Gujarati). There is also information, though less, on this page (in English): http://tattvagyan.com/jain-festivals/maun-ekadashi/
We are lucky that this day falls on Sunday this year! I encourage all of us at JSNE to take the opportunity to do whatever they can: keep Maun [silence], go to the derasar, do navakarvalli, do puja, etc.
